Swimming South Africa's Talent Identification Programme
A recent development in Eastern Province Aquatics was the launch of Swimming South Africa's talent identification programme in the Port Elizabeth on the 13th November 2010.
The programme will focus on the inclusion of black athletes and black coaches in south african swimming.
The talent identification and development programme will be running in correlation with the club development within all the provincial affiliates.
The objective of the programme is to assist the athletes to achieve their potential in swimming and improve to the next level, with goals for the swimmers being Youth and Senior Nationals, the ultimate goal - Youth Olympics.
Each swimmer chosen for the TID team had to attend a Level 2 or 3 National gala in March 2010 and the team was chosen on their evident talent and outstanding achievements attained in the previous swimming season.
The following swimmers must be congratulated on being selected for the team:

Joshua Bellairs, Dillon Dorothy, Ally Giddy - AQUABEAR.
Mohammed Connelly, Mu'minah Connelly, Hampton Van Rooyen - KAROLY
Alard Basson, Alaric Basson, Clint Felckers, Nizaam Kafaar, Akeem Langford - P.E.A
Mischa Koopman - SwimCATS
The team will train with their club coaches with Brian Elliot, Head coach of Aquabear swim club, as the teams overseer and mentor coach and Dr Richard Stretch, director of sport (NMMU) testing the strength of the athletes during their training.
